" Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Koble are among the oldest married people in Democrat Township. They celebrated their fiftieth or “Golden Wedding Anniversary’ on March 2, 1936.
Clarissa was born in Charleston, Ohio, in 1865. Her parents were: Mark Jacobs who died at the age of 82, and Hanna Jacobs who died at 74 years of age. In 1886, Clarisa Jacobs married Johnny Koble.
Mr. and Mrs. Koble are parents of five children: Jesse C. Koble born January 9, 1887; John William (Willie) Koble, born July 8, 1889; Bertha Koble, born March 26, 1892; Harry W. Koble, born April 1, 1898 and died May 13, 1898; James C. Koble, born May 19, 1891.
Mr. and Mrs. Koble are parents of four living children, have 13 living grandchildren and are the great-grandparents of a five-year-old girl.
Their home stands two and three-quarters miles south of Cutler, Indiana and one-fourth mile from the southern boundary of Carroll County, Indiana. They have lived in the same house all of their married lives. Johnny Koble is known as one of the best gardeners in Democrat Township. He has realized a nice profit from the sale of his plants and berries.
People take great pride in visiting their home during the summer because of the great variety of perennial flowers and shrubs. Mrs. Koble was one of the first women in Democrat Township, Carroll County to make flower arrangements as her hobby. They are endeared to many people by Mrs. Kobley’s friendly ways and Mr. Koble’s quiet gentleness. ~ by Alice Sheagley, March 24, 1936
