Mr. Parker died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Morgan County to Grady Forrest Parker and Fannie Lee Owens Parker. He was retired from Shelby Contractors as a shop foreman/diesel mechanic. He was retired after 24 years as staff sergeant with 1343 Engineers Company C, Alabama National Guard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Thompson Parker; three daughters, Doris Thrasher and Donna “Jodie” McCormick, both of Danville, and Janet Lewis of Falkville; three brothers, Walter Parker of Mount Hope, Owen Parker of Falkville and Jack Parker of Decatur; two sisters, Margaret Wilbanks of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Wanda Grant of Decatur; four grandsons, Justin Linderman, Jacob Linderman, Jonathan Thrasher and Cody McCormick; one granddaughter, Dallas Thrasher; and one stepgrand daughter, Amber Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Jim Burchell, Oscar Kent Jr., James Hogan, Jeremy Hendrix, Don Lee and David Bullard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Knowlton, Earl Rigsby, Royce Thrasher and his grandsons.
