Command Sgt. Maj. Liveoak died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his residence. He was born June 2, 1923, in Coosa County. He was the youngest command sergeant major in history at the time of the ranks creation. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Weogufka Masonic Lodge. He was a devoted father, loving husband and gracious grandfather. After his military career, he was a successful businessman.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Catherine Liveoak; three daughters, Rose Hammonds of Decatur, Jonina Stewart and husband, Johnny, of Sylacauga, and Debra Bugner and husband, Mike, of Gautier, Miss.; one son, Dr. Talmadge Liveoak and wife, Dr. Deborah Liveoak, of Huntsville; one sister, Kate Prater Price of Sylacauga; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The military will serve as pallbearers.
