William C. Denning was born on September 20th, 1825 in Sumner County, Tennessee. William married Caroline Mitchell. They had an unknown number of children. William served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company G of the 14th Arkansas Infantry, CSA. He enlisted at Yellville on July 12th, 1861 and was dropped from the rolls May 27th, 1862. He was captured in Carroll County on April 1st, 1863 and sent to military prison at Johnson's Island, Ohio. He was forwarded to New Orleans for exchange on January 9th, 1865. William died on April 12th, 1908.
