Raymond Eggleston Sr.
August 22, 1930 - December 27, 2004

Rev. Raymond Eggleston, Sr., 74 of Fayetteville, NC and formerly of Sturgis passed away Monday, December 27, 2004 in Fayetteville. Ray was born August 22, 1930 in Springfield, Mass. to Robert and Gladys (Bruce) Eggleston. He grew up and attended school in Springfield. He entered the United States Air Force in 1954. Ray served in the Korean War and numerous other overseas and stateside assignments. Ray married Kay Fieldstad on February 25, 1956 in Springfield, Mass. While stationed in Okinawa he served as an associate minister for Naha Baptist Church. In 1975 he retired from the USAF and attended Tennessee Temple University at Chattanooga Tennessee where he became an ordained minister. Upon returning to Box Elder, Ray served as Chaplain for the Box Elder Fire Department and a Reserve Officer for the Police Department. Ray loved to fish, hike and spend time with his grandchildren. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Kay Eggleston of Fayetteville, two sons; one daughter; two brothers; three sisters, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Drake, brother Ralph Eggleston and grandson Chris Eggleston. Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at at 2pm on Monday, January 3, 2005 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Doug Diehl officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard. A reception will follow at 3:30pm at First United Methodist Church (629 Kansas City Street) in Rapid City A memorial has been established to the Community Home Care and Hospice, 5301 Morganton Road, Fayetteville, NC, 28314.
