ACTIVITY DURING WWII
U.S. ARMY 1942-1945. AWARDED THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL

Honored on the World War II Memorial by Ken Brown

Son of Dayton Ray and Eliza Dell Amos.

(Interesting info about Soaky and about how he most likely got his nickname is from his old friend, Ken Brown:)

"Soaky - coffee with milk & sugar and stale biscuits broken up and placed in the coffee. Eat with spoon like soup.

Times were hard and I guess Soaky had it every morning and the name stuck with him throughout life. I can remember having it for breakfast sometimes. When there was no left-over biscuits from supper, and if I really had a craving, I would use regular soda crackers.

He got me my first kids army uniform. I was about 3-4 years old at a church Christmas play and when Santa came in, I got scared and run and jumped in his lap and said, "Don't let him get me, Soaky...Don't let him get me!"
