Otto F. Tessmer, 76, lifetime Pittsburg resident, died 1t 2:25 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Mr. Tessmer resided at 605 West Third until suffering a stroke on Jan. 17. He was admitted to Mt. Carmel Hospital where he was a patient for about three months before becoming a patient at the Golden Age Lodge. He was again hospitalized on Aug. 19.

Mr. Tessmer was born May 9, 1889, in Pittsburg. As a young man he worked as a blacksmith for the Kansas City Southern, and for some time after that he operated a welding shop at 202 West Third. He was also employed for a time at McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing Corporation and at the Mackie Clemens Coal Company, as a welder.

For some time before his retirement, Mr. Tessmer was engaged in construction work in Paducah, KY. He was married to Miss Martha Ellen Jacobs Aug. 22, 1910 in Pittsburg. She died Nov. 5, 1964. The late Gus Tessmer, longtime fire chief in Pittsburg, was a brother. He died years ago.

Memberships were held in St. John Lutheran Church and the Steamfitters and Pipefitters Union in Pittsburg.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Snider, Ottawa, Kas., and Mrs. Floyd Geier, 519 Hobson Drive; one son, Richard Tessmer, Neosho; one brother, J. C. Tessmer, Kansas City; one sister, Mrs. George Cass, Los Gatos, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. Wayne Weissenbuelher will officiate, with burial in Mt. olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Guy Von Schrilltz, John Bruce, Oscar Johnson, Fred Kubler, William Freeman and Arthur Buckley.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Brenner Chapel.
