Closindo Zuccaro
formerly of Woodbridge's Port Reading section
Closindo Zuccaro, 91, of Point Pleasant died Friday at Point Pleasant Hospital.
Mr. Zuccaro was born in Italy, and lived in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge for 65 years before moving to Point Pleasant 25 years ago.
He was a police officer in the Woodbridge Police Department for 35 years and retired in 1967 as a sergeant. He was a member of the Old Guard in Point Pleasant and a former parishoner of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Port Reading.
His wife, Eleanor Whalen Zuccaro, died in 1979.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Kindlick of Port Reading and Angelina Buczynski of Smithburg, and a son, Anthony of Port Reading; two brothers, Florio of Carteret and Attilio of Port Reading, and three sisters, Mary Russo and Yolanda Murray of Port Reading and Josephine Cerulo of Woodbridge; and three grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
Services are tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at Leon J. Gerity Funeral Home, 411 Amboy Avenue., Woodbridge, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Port Reading. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
