KISMET-- John R. "Dick" Pinkerton, 68, died Sept 29, 1994 at St. Catherine's Hospital, Garden City, KS, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 30, 1925, at Saguache, Colo, the son of John M. and Nora M. Morris Pinkerton.
He attended Fort Hays State College.
A Kismet resident, he worked in oil-field sales for many years and later worked for Beech Aircraft, Liberal,KS, for 28 years, retiring in October, 1981.

He was a member of Kismet United Methodist Church and the American Legion, and cooked for the Kismet Little World's Fair, SADD and many other community projects.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, 1944-1946, World War II.

On July 7, 1946, he married Vesta Laird at Kismet.
She survives.

Other survivors include two sons: Joe and Don; a daughter Claudia; four grandsons, and a great-grandson.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kismet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Fisher presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today., 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal. Burial will be in the Kismet Cemetery.
