LAFFERTY, Linda Christine
September 20, 1963 – December 6, 2012

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our loving wife and caring mother, Linda Christine Lafferty, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the age of 49 years.

Linda was born on September 20, 1963 in Calgary, and was the youngest of three children of Milan and Evelyn Danco. She spent her school years in Nelson, B.C. and graduated from L.V. Rogers High School in 1981. Linda returned to Calgary where she met and married the love of her life, Roger Lafferty, on August 22, 1987 and raised four children: Tara, Ryley, Shaye and Garrett. She spent many years working at Canadian Western Natural Gas, The City of Calgary, and CMHC in Accounting and Finance. Linda completed her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree at Athabasca University in 2008, and was pursuing her CGA designation. While Linda achieved great success in her professional life, she truly was the heart of her home and her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She was unselfish with her time, willing to drop whatever she was doing just to help in any way she could. She spent many late nights reading and editing her children's homework and preparing a home-cooked meal for the next day. Linda loved to host family events, no matter what the occasion – Christmas, Easter, birthdays, Grey Cup parties, and especially Sunday night dinners – and always worked very hard to make Christmases and birthdays very special. Linda cooked the best meals, and you could never leave without her sending you home with plenty of leftovers. Linda and her family loved to take trips, some of which included Disney Land and Disney World, Sedona, Las Vegas, Mexico, Hawaii, countless trips to B.C., and the western United States. She also had a strong faith and could be found at St. Patrick's Parish on Sundays over the past twenty years. Linda volunteered her time as a Zone Captain for the Diabetes Association, and various church ministries. Linda's faith and strength helped her overcome many challenging times in her life. The way she lived her life and the incredible qualities that she held made everyone want to be around her. Linda will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, co-workers and faith community.

Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband Roger; children, Tara (Jesse) Hobart, Ryley, Shaye, and Garrett; mother, Evelyn Stoltzenburg; brother, Brian Danco (Lynda Dowd); sister, Carol (Richard) Mills; brothers-in-law, Gene, Tim, and Gary (Devray); sister-in-law, Darlene (Rick) Strzelec; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her puppies, Lola and Maya. Linda was predeceased by her father, Milan; father-in-law, Frank; and step-father, Dennis.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
