Reed J. Page, 80, of 11012 N. Manor Drive, Highland passed away at the home of his son Bradley Reed Page on February 20, 2004 of natural causes.
He was born July 7, 1923 in Salt Lake City, the son of George A. and Mary Winnie Porter Page.
He was reared and educated in Bountiful, Utah, Burley, Idaho and Kaysville, Utah. He later attended the University of Alabama and Weber State College. He graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan with a degree in Agronomy.
He was veteran of World War II serving three years as a cadet in the Army Air Corps, then four years in the Air Force Reserve with a final rank of First Lieutenant.
He married Marilyn Smith on August 19, 1948 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 28, 1962. His dear sweet wife Marilyn preceded Reed in death on February 21, 2001.
He was an elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in various organizations in the church. He was a member of the Highland Ninth Ward at the time of his passing.
He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, Hill Field Air Force Base and a notable career with the Farmers Home Administration of the Dept. of Agriculture. He served in various counties of Utah, serving as the County Supervisor, District Director for the northern part of Utah, Chief of Housing with the state office in Salt Lake City and was appointed State Director for the states of Utah and Nevada. He retired in 1981 after 36 years of service.
He loved playing basketball and football for Davis High School, and football for Weber Junior College. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, golfing, skiing and bowling. He enjoyed building and working with wood, remodeling homes, cabinet work and furniture building. He and his wife went on many trips throughout the United States and Canada, visiting all states except Alaska and Florida. They also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, and New Zealand.
He is survived by his three sons: Scott Jay (Janet) Page of Worthington, Ohio; Bradley Reed (Cheri) Page of Highland, Utah; and Gregory George (Mary Jane) Page of Roosevelt, Utah. Also survived by George Dee Page (brother) of Kaysville, Utah and Laree Brown (sister) of Bountiful, Utah, along with 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Howard and Lennis Page, his sister Elda Keddinton, parents George A. and Winnie Porter Page, and his daughter Robyn Page.
At Reed's request, in lieu of a funeral, there will be a family graveside service held at the Centerville City Cemetery, Centerville, Utah, Wednesday, February 25th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday, February 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 24th Street and Adams, in Ogden, UT.
