Donald R. Huston grew up at 887 N. Howard Street in Akron, Ohio. He attended Jennings Junior High School and graduated from North High School. He was the son of Mildred M. Huston and had a brother, Robert.

He entered the service on 02/04/1941 and was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Company K, 145th Infantry Regiment, 37th "Buckeye" Infantry Division, Service # 35007932.

He was killed In Action 12 March 1944 on Bougainville in the Solomon Islands during the Japanese counterattack on Hill 700 from 8 March to 13 March 1944. Awarded the Purple Heart. His remains were returned from the Pacific Theater in May 1948 on board the transport ship Lt. George W. G. Boyce. Buried at Glendale Cemetery Akron, OH.
he was twenty-five years old at the time of his death.
