Husband of Rennie A. Isler; father of Ellie Isler O'Buck

Was a City of Tallahassee police officer and served as Police Chief from Feb. 1913 to Feb. 1918, again from Feb. 1919 to about Oct. 1920, and then again from May 1, 1924 to Jan 26, 1933 when he died in office. This likely makes Joe Isler the longest-serving Police Chief in the city's history with about 15.5 years of service, toping that of Frank Stoutamire who served exactly 15 years (Sept 1, 1953-Sept 1, 1968)
