Irene R. Weaver, 90, formerly of East Bangor, PA, passed away Wednesday, January
12th, 2011 at Gracedale, Northampton County Home, Upper Nazareth Twp., PA. Born:
May 12, 1920, in Johnsonville, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel
Strawdinger Weidman. Personal: She and her husband, Arthur R. Weaver, Sr.,
observed their 63rd wedding anniversary last July. She was employed as a sewing
machine operator at various blouse mills in the slate belt area, until retiring
in 1982. During World War II Irene made military uniforms for the Troops.
Memberships: She was a member of East Bangor United Methodist Church in East
Bangor, PA, where she was a memberof the United Methodist Women's Group. She
served as a former Den Mother for Cub Scout Pac 41, in East Bangor, PA, and a
member of the East Bangor Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors: In addition to
her husband, Irene is survived by a daughter, Alice I. Brickler of East Bangor,
PA; a son, Arthur R. Weaver, Jr., and his wife Loretta, of Easton; a sister,
Helen Lane of East Bangor, PA, eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Irene was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Lane.
