Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Grady Newton and Lillie Mae Nix Reece.
Mr. Reece served in the US Air Force and Army Reserves. He retired from the Greenville Water System after 33 years of service. He attended Laurens Road United Methodist Church and was also a Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Iris Ruth Slaton Reece; three children, Kerry L. Reece (Ellen), Karen Reece Johnson (David), and Leslie L. Reece (Kesha); three grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Rachel Johnson, and Ethan Reece; a sister, Eula Belle Scarborough (Ray); and two brothers, Cleon Reece (Anne) and Harold Reece (Mickie). He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
The family would like to thank Lillian Garnett for the love and wonderful care she gave to Dad.
Visitation will be Monday, December 10, 2012 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
