WM. FIELDEN ADKISSON, born 30 Nov. 1843, enlisted as private Nov. 17, 1861; not at Fort Donelson, sick measles; then served in Harris' Co., Nixon's 48th, then back in Voorhies' 48th at Port Hudson until Hood's Raid Dec. 1864; then in Voss' Co. Nixon's Cavalry; surrendered Gainesville, Ala., May 1865. Several slight wounds; wounded left wrist at Nashville Dec. 15, 1864. (Buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Columbia---born 30 Nov 1843, died 14 Jul 1921.
