MUNCIE - Floyd L. "Buck" Stephens, 76, passed away early Thursday morning at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on March 6, 1936, in Jamestown, Tennessee, the son of John Lee and Ellen (Stephens) Stephens,
Mr. Stephens had attended Jamestown city schools. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the period following Korea and prior to Vietnam. Floyd had been a truck driver for the Teamster's Union in Muncie and later for Local #208 in California, having driven for Butterfields, Lee's Motor Line and Red Ball trucking firms. When the family lived in California, Buck was a cross country truck driver. He had also worked for approximately 5 years for the Northwestern Railroad. Mr. Stephens retired in the 1990's.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Bilbrey (husband, Larry), Muncie; two sons, Duane Stephens (wife, Claudia), Eaton and Rick Stephens (wife, April), Muncie; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; four sisters, Faye Stephens, Nashville, Tennessee, "Billie" Conner (husband, Virgil) and Earlene Helton (husband, Gary), both of Muncie and Georgia Beaty, San Antonio, Texas; brother, Lige Stephens (wife, Darlene) Muncie; and a special cousin, Ernest Stephens.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Elaine Stephens in 2000; his parents; three sisters, June, Frances and Hattie; three brothers, Earl, Woodrow and Lloyd.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 1:30 P.M. at the Tomlinson Cemetery with Celebrant Craig Malone officiating.
Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Military Honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
