John enlisted in the US Army Air Corps October 17, 1942 at Ft Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis. He was a member of the 741st Bomb Squadron, 455th Bombardment Group (H) during WWII. The 455th was based at San Giovanni Field, near Cerignola, Italy. A power turret specialist; repaired, inspected and maintained gun turrets in B17's and B24's while stationed in Italy. John attained the rank of Sergeant and was discharged September 6, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
April 6, 1951 John married Florence Laverne Myers in Indianapolis. They had 4 children.
John was preceded in death by his wife Florence and son Kurt Ralph Deisch.
