I believe that my grandmother had a hard life. Her first child died at birth.

She was the 15th of 19 children. Her father, Francis Romanowski, (1845 - 1936) had buried two wives in Poland before coming to Detroit and finding Anna Banach, widow of Leon Rachocki.

As a young girl, she lost a 1/2 sister and two siblings. As a young bride she lost a sister and 1/2 sister.

She had 6 sons and 2 daughters. First born Helen Eva, (died at birth) Anthony, Stanley, Walter, Harry, Frank, (Living- my father) and Joanne.

She is buried with her husband.

My dad tells me of how she had tears in her eyes when she saw him do a play at St. Hyacinth when he was in the 8th grade.

Grandma also did the impossible. When her husband died June 17, 1952, she called the army and got dad sent home from Korea. Dad says that when they came into where he was recuperating from his war wounds they said, "Son, we don't know who you know, but your going home for a month." Looks like Grandma Najduk had great persuasive quality for being a simple women.
