Life Story of Mrs George Knott, 71

Mrs George Knott, nee Delia Giblin, youngest child of Thomas and Ann Giblin, was born near Sterling, Ill, October 23, 1879. At a very early age she accompanied her parents to a farm near Vail, Iowa. She received her education in the rural schools in that vicinity and St Ann's academy.

On June 7, 1904 she was united in marriage to George H Knott at St Ann's church in Vail. Following their marriage she and her husband moved to a farm northeast of Manilla where she spent her entire married life.

She is survived by her husband; nine children, George Jr and Floyd of Denver, Colo, Alice of Neola, Estelle (Mrs Harold Kelly) of Wall Lake, Edward and Anna Mae (Mrs Walter Relff) of Manilla, Francis, Laverne, and Lloyd at home; 15 grandchildren; one brother, John Giblin of Hot Springs, S D and one sister, Mrs Belle Devaney of Vail.

Mrs Knott was a devout Catholic and a member of the Altar and Rosary society, in which she was active until February, 1948, when she suffered a paralatic stroke which left her a semi-invalid. Sunday, December 24, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, lapsing into a coma and despite medical and loving care she slept peacefully away early Wednesday morning in the presence of her loving husband,and all of her children except Floyd who was a patient in the Denver hospital following an emergency appendectomy.

Funeral services were held Friday morning, December 29, at the Sacred Heart church in Manilla. The Rev J J Hyland celebrated the requiem high mass with the Rev E J Schumann in the sanctuary. Burial was at Mt Olivet cemetery.

Pall bearers were six nephews, Joe Devaney, Thomas McCullough, John Brogan, Louis Knott, Louis Finnegan and Robert McCaffery.

Those from a distance who attended the services were Mr and Mrs Pat O'Dollel and son of Omaha, Mrs May McMahon and Mr and Mrs Lloyd Brogan and son of Sioux City, Mrs Milton Gary and Mr and Mrs Leo Kingsley and sons of Des Moines, Mr and Mrs A J Deane and family of Woodland, Kansas.
