The Death of Mrs. Cuthbertson.
Sudden—like a lightning stroke—did the news of the death of this lady fall upon this community yesterday morning. It had been known to only a few that she was sick, when her demise was whispered through the city. But yesterday a blooming bride, who came to Cheyenne from Omaha, accompanying her husband to his new field of labor—today a corpse—a heart-broken husband—a motherless babe.
Our inclinations urge us to whisper a few words of consolation to the stricken Edward; but of what avail are words in his deep anguish? Let us, rather, leave him in hallowed communion with the Great Spirit, "who loveth, but chasteneth."
Mrs. Cuthbertson was a true and loving wife, a kind friend and neighbor, beloved by all who had made her acquaintance during her short stay in this city. Her life, ever devoted strictly to duty, and doing good to all around her—a life so calm and pure—has expired with a kindred sweetness about it. Let flowers and music, kind friends and earnest words consecrate the hour today, when the last farewell will be taken of all that is mortal of Gussie Cuthbertson.
