FORT WORTH -- Theodor Ledel, 77, a showman, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at a local nursing home, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rita's Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Chapel.

Gene was born in Fort Worth in 1927. He was the grandson of the late William "Bill" Hames, showman. Gene attended Paschal High School and Texas Wesleyan University. He was a veteran of World War II, a strong businessman, owner of Gene Ledel Shows, and a past president of The Lone Star Showman's Club of Texas. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Ledel, in 1977.

Survivors: Son, David Ledel of Fort Worth; daughter, Kathy Henley of Orlando, Fla.; son, Ted Ledel of Colleyville; daughter, Angela Goodell of Bedford; son, Patrick Ledel of Fort Worth; son, Richard Ledel of Kingsland, Ga.; son, John Ledel of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Theresa, Chris, Jenny and Diana Ledel, Rebecca and Scott Henley, Samatha, Paula and Sara Goodell, Anthony, Erica, Matthew Ledel, Taylor and Casey; wife, Sharlean Ledel of Fort Worth; and stepchildren, Shannon, Trey and Kelly.
