JOSEPH HAROLD CHEESEMAN, age 76, 206 Richland Avenue, died at 10:45 .m., Thursday, Oct. 7, 1965 in the Washington Hospital after an illness of three years. He was admitted to the hospital Oct. 7. Born Aug. 21, 1889, in Udall, Kansas, he was the son of the late LOYAL and FLORA EDMONIA RIGGS CHEESEMAN. He had lived most of his life in this area, and had resided for twenty-seven years on Richland Avenue. A graduate of Duff’s Academy, Pittsburgh, he had been a Prudential Insurance Agent for twenty years, retiring in 1950. He was a member of First Methodist Church, West Pike and Iron Streets, taught a Sunday School class for thirty years, was a steward in church, served on the Official Board in the Church, member of Knights of Pythias Lodge, Past Commander of American Legion Post 253, Canonsburg, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the old Thompsonville Band, Peters Township, had served as secretary of Kiwanis Club, was judge of election in third ward, school guard at South Side School, and a veteran of World War I. He was united in marriage to ALICE M. RUDGE, Oct. 1, 1925, who died June 15, 1955. Surviving are: two daughters, FLORA JAYNE, wife of WILLIAM A. MOORE, Bethel Park; ALICE CAROL, wife of WILLIAM H. COLLAR, McMurray; two grandchildren; one brother, J. TAYLOR CHEESEMAN, R. D. 1, Eighty Four; two sisters: MRS. MARY C. WEAVER, R. D. 1, Canonsburg; MRS. JEAN R. STURGEON, Dunedin, Florida. His daughter, JO ANN CIMINO, died in 1957. One sister, MISS MAUDE LEORA CHEESEMAN is deceased.
