Ida E. (JOY) NEWKIRK's gravestone may have 1856 as her birth year but this is not correct. First, her death certificate shows that she was born 12d 1m 1853. Second, Ida had two sisters who appear to have been born in 1856: Ellen Ada (JOY) JOHNSON born in 1m 1856 and died 8d 11m 1938 and Emily A. JOY born in 8m 1856 and died 28d 9m 1857. Although more research is required to uncover the full birthdates of Ellen and Emily it would appear both were born within a year either way of the summer of 1856. It is unlikely that Ida would then herself fit this year flex as to her own birth.
