April 10, 2024: Based on recent research by J S Sutterfield, Ph.D, R.P.E. Satterfield/Sutterfield researcher and direct descendent of Edward M Satterfield/Sutterfield through his son William, it is now believed that his wife Elizabeth Walton Sutterfield is the daughter of Moses and Nancy (Jennings) Walton of Edgefield Cty, SC and 'Not the daughter of Newell and Agnes (Woolfolk) Walton' as has been recorded in many ancestry trees over the years. Edgefield Cty, SC is not far from where Edward lived in 1800 - Lauren's Cty, SC. and the Newell Walton family lived in GA and didn't come to SC until 1815, not long before his death.

Elizabeth died of cancer of the face in 1839 during their family and extended family wagon train journey from Tennessee where they were living enroute to Missouri. From family documents, it is known she died and was buried in Memphis, TN but her exact burial location is unknown. V Griese, co-researcher with information provided by J S Sutterfield.
