Mr. Maupin was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during Vietnam, and was a Disabled American Veteran. He was a truck driver for several years and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 655 in Seymour.
Born May 16, 1953, in Scottsburg, he was the son of the late Frederick Maupin and Freda Maupin Bobbitt, who survives in Seymour.
Other survivors include his stepfather, Charles Bobbitt, Seymour; four sons, Larry Gene Maupin II, serving in the armed forces in Iraq, Joshua Maupin, North Carolina, Jeremy Maupin, serving in the United States Air Force, and Travis Maupin, California; a daughter, Amber Maupin, Seymour; six grandchildren; six brothers, David (Carol) Maupin, Phoenix, Jeffery (Cheryl) Barrett, Bicknell, John (Cathy) Barrett, Seymour, Mark (Martha) Barrett, Fort Lauderdale, and Frank J. Barrett and Jesse J. Barrett, both of Georgia; a sister, Helen Bline, Georgia; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
The Rev. Jon Pearce will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Crothersville, with burial of cremains to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery. Crothersville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1083 will conduct military graveside services.
