Edward Leo Wasmer, 87, of Crescent City, died Friday (March 6, 1998) at the
Gilman Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, where
services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Robert Emerson will
officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Gilman.
Memorials may be made to the staff at the Gilman Nursing Home or to the
Parkinson's Foundation.
He was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Gilman, the son of Louis B. and Martha Mae
Washburn Wasmer.
Surviving are his wife, the former Harriet Ann Baylor, of Crescent City, whom he
married Oct. 2, 1934, in Gilman; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Ann and
Larry Fisher of Gilman, Patricia Tamburrino of Lisle, Sharon and Richard
Pfingsten of Crescent City, and Mary and Edward ''Bud'' Dill and Ginny and
Charles ''Ben'' Newman, all of Gilman; two sisters, Mary Blotcky of Normal and
Lucille Kremer of Newland, N.C.; one brother, Francis Wasmer of Granger, Ind.;
11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters and one granddaughter.
Mr. Wasmer was a retired farmer in the Onarga area. He was a self- employed
painter.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Gilman.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and yard work.
