He married Eulah Rogers Dec. 1, 1934. They had four sons.
He lived in Mercer County until 1951, when he moved his family to Plato, where he was a farmer.
He was a member of the Plato Baptist Church, where he served as song leader, Sunday School teacher and deacon.
Surviving are his wife, Eulah, of the home; four sons, Bill, Kenneth, and Phillip of Plato and Calvin of Springfield; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Services were Friday, Aug. 11, at the Plato Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Wallace and the Rev. Bob White officiating. Burial was in the Lynch Cemetery near Plato under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.
