She was the daughter of Stanley L. MacMillan and Marjorie Stormann, and attended schools in Brownville Junction and Trenton, ON Canada graduating from Trenton High School in 1933 and the Farmington Normal School in 1936.
She married Frank R. Forbes on October 1, 1943.
Hilda taught for 38 years in Sullivan, Buckfield, Fryeburg, Auburn, and Windham, retiring in 1974. During WWII, she worked as a seamstress, sewing canvas gun covers for the military.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Frank R. Forbes, in 1978. Surviving were three sons, a brother, a sister, and six grandchildren.
