Mary Frances Melton, 91, Springfield, passed away at 8:57 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 in St. John's Regional Health Center.

She was born October 17, 1910 in Springfield to Lawrence and Mary Ellen (Harris) Inmon. She was the widow of the late James C. Melton.

She had been a switchboard operator for the Colonial Hotel and had also worked at Jarrett Jr. High and Parkview High School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother "the most unselfish person that her family has every known, truly a homemaker."

Mary Frances is survived by her son, James Melton, Springfield; her daughter, Sandra Jean White, Overland Park, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sparta, Mo., under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield.
