Maggie Kembro, age 85, passed away on May 27, 1972, in Orlando, Orange County, Florida. She was born on April 24, 1887, in Ozark, Dale County, Alabama to the late John William Braxton and Willie Ann Bethany (nee Durden) Braxton. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Kembro, whom she married on August 1, 1905, in Geneva County, Alabama. Together they had twelve children, seven of whom lived to be adults. She was preceded in death by six children, five sons in infancy and one son, Eubert Richard Kimbro, who passed away in 1963. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Donald Lamar Lee, who died in 1966 in South Vietnam. She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Herbert (Mary Lois) Kimbro; Dick (Marie) Kimbro; Merle Kimbro Reddish; Mildred Kembro (Eddie) Smith; Walter Erskine (Ann) Kimbro; and Maggie Louise (Billy) Johnson. Twenty-three grandchildren and at least four great grandchildren.
Maggie was a great cook, everyone loved her cakes and she was an excellent seamstress. She is loved and missed by all who knew her to this very day.
Maggie was laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, Orange County, Florida, on May 30, 1972. Her son, Walter Erskine Kimbro, paid for the funeral expenses and against his father's wishes, spelled the last name Kimbro on the original gravestone.
