Military Honors at
F. M. Miller Funeral

The largest miltary funeral ever
held at St. Petersburg, Pa:, was
that of Francis M. Miller on July
24, when 200 automobiles were in
line to the St. Petersburg Cemetery
where interment was made
in the family plot.
Private Miller was born October
18 1889, the son of Mr. and Mr
J. W. Miller, of Turkey City.
He was 29 years old when he met
his death from wounds received in
action at the Argonne-Meuse, October
6. 1918.
He was assigned to Co. E. 320th
Infantry, leaving for Camp Lee
April 3, 1918. He went overseas
with the 310th division. He took
part in numerous lrioiibe and
battles, receiving his fatal wounds
in Argonne-Meuse.
Engageing in the drilling and
contracting business under the
firm name of Miller & H???. Mr.
Miller also held extnilve oil and
gas field in Clarion county, this
State, and in Kentucky, He was
well known throughout the locality
as an active busness man.
When a nitro-glycerln explosion
ocurred on his father's lease at
Turkey City. killing John Hall the
younger Miller escaped serious in-
jury.
Not only in business activity was
Mr. Miller known and respected,
but he also was favorably known
in church and fraternal circles. He
was a member of the Reformed
church at St. Petersburg, occupying
the office of elder. He was a
mamber of tha St. Petersburg
Lodge No. 550 K. & A. M. He also
belonged to Venango Lodge of Perectlon,
at Oil City, and the Con-
sory at Coudenport, Pa,
The body of the dead hero arrived
at Foxburg on July 21 from
Hoboken, N. J. Funeral services, in
charge of Rev. Rebert, were held
July 24, at his late home, Turkey
City.
Mr. Miller is survived by his par-
ent. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Miller, of
Turkey City; four brothers, A. H.
and H. M. Miller. of Turkey City;
C. H. Miller. of Chicor Pa;, and
E. C. Miller, of Lamertine. Pa.; two
sisters. Mrs. H. I. Davis. of New
Middletown, Ohio, and Mrs. K. W.
Davis, of Knox, Pa.
