Lillian Juanita Pugh was born in Dyer County, Tennessee, on July 30, 1914, to the late Robert Augustus Pugh and Allie Olds Pugh. She was reared and educated in Friendship, Tennessee. She graduated from Lambuth College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and taught school for many years.
She was married to the Reverend Raymond Artie Bivens, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1991. With Artie, she was active in the churches they served in a ministry which spanned forty-six and one-half years as a parsonage family in the Memphis Conference.

Juanita was active in church work and held offices in local units of United Methodist Women and in the districts where they lived. She also served eight years as a Conference officer of United Methodist Women. She assisted with programs and studies for the children, youth, and United Methodist Women of .the churches. She was also a substitute Sunday School teacher.

Juanita entered into the Church Triumphant on February 21, 2006, at the age of ninety-one. A memorial service was conducted in her home church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Jackson, Tennessee, by her pastor, the Reverend W. Glenn Hill. Her body was laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery.

In addition to her son, Terry Bivens, Juanita is also survived by a brother, Clifford Pugh, of Burlison, Tennessee.
