George Henri Bogart was the son of Elbert Bogart and Rosalia Evaline (Fagaly) Bogart. He and Josephine Frances Duncan were united in marriage on December 26, 1878, in Farmersburg, Sullivan County, Indiana, and were the parents of three sons; Vivian Karl Bogart, Guy Bogart, and Elbert William Bogart, and two daughters; Sybil Ulrica Bogart and Idyllwynn Rosalie Bogart.

G. Henri, as he preferred to be known, was educated as a medical doctor but had careers as a school teacher, a journalist, and a newspaper editor. He died during the flu epidemic of 1918, just eleven days after the death of his older daughter, Sybil.
