ODESSA Jessie Eileen Carpenter was born on February 27, 1914, to Jessie Ann and Carl Lee Carpenter in Killeen, Texas.
They also had two sons, Coleman and Carl, Jr. The family settled in Waco, where they were active in church and community affairs. Eileen graduated in 1932 from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where she met her future husband, Max Triplett. They married in October, 1940.

Eileen enjoyed a long career in education, teaching various grades and speech, but her favorite subject was English literature which she taught at Wink High School. She also loved directing the annual one-act play for UIL competition. She retired from the Wink ISD in 1985. One of her greatest honors as a teacher was to be initiated into the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an international honorary sorority for teachers. She was active in DKG chapters in Wink and then in Odessa. Eileen also deeply believed in the work of Federated Women's Clubs and was a member of the local club wherever she lived, including the Pioneer Study Club of Odessa. Besides education and civic work, Eileen was passionate about traveling, a love instilled by her parents. She took great pride in having visited every on of the fifty states, as well as many European countries and the Holy Lands.

Shortly after retiring, Eileen moved to the Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa, where she immediately became involved in activities. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she joined the First UMC in Odessa where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. The greatest joy of her golden years was her marriage to Norris Hinds who also lived at the Parks. They married December 23, 1999. Their years together were filled with their friends at the Parks, the Wesley Couples' Sunday School Class, and visits with all their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They also had a grand time traveling together, two highlights of which were cruising through the Panama Canal and through the Hawaiian Islands. Norris passed away in February, 2005.
