Malvin E. "Bucky" VanHorn, III, of Smyrna, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 10, 2005, at home. He was 47.

Bucky was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. Bucky's family was the most important thing in his life, followed closely by his position as Technical Trades Foreman at St. Andrew's School in Middletown. Bucky loved his work at St. Andrew's and considered that community his second family. He worked many years at Modern Handling Equipment Company of New Castle. Bucky enjoyed working with his hands, helping others in need, and his time spent at the beach. Bucky was a member of Townsend Fire Company for 12 years, where he participated in many fire company functions including fundraising events, bingo, and was on hand in the kitchen to aid the ladies auxiliary.

Bucky and his family attended the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, and was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church of Townsend.

Bucky is survived by his wife, Lisa Phillips VanHorn; a son, Christopher Lee VanHorn, and his fiance, Traci May Yearwood, of Middletown; three daughters, Samantha, Candace, and Jessica Wyre, all at home; his father and mother, Malvin E. VanHorn Jr., and Virginia "Ginny" VanHorn, of Dover; paternal grandmother, Ann VanHorn, of Townsend; two brothers, Michael VanHorn, and his wife, Lisa; Mark VanHorn, and his wife, Laurie, both of Townsend; three nephews, Michael VanHorn, Jr., of Townsend, Brandon and Shane VanHorn, of Middletown; and one niece, Nicole VanHorn, of Townsend

Friends may call April 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held April 15 at the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Townsend Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church or the Townsend Fire Company.
