Angela Beller Hoffman died Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was 53. Born in 1952, Hoffman was raised in Twentynine Palms and graduated from high school here in 1970. She was elected Miss Twentynine Palms in 1969.
She was married to Col. Carl "Bill" Hoffman, USMC Ret., the son of Gen. Carl Hoffman, who commanded the Twentynine Palms Marine Base from 1969 to 1971.
Hoffman raised her family while studying to become a registered nurse. After Bill retired from the Marine Corps the couple settled in Las Vegas, Nev., where she worked as a nurse until she lost her sight. She then became active with Blind Connect, an organization dedicated to helping the blind. She is survived by her husband Bill, children Bill, Joe and Melissa, sisters Pam O'Connor and Patti Garvin, brothers Bert and Willie Beller, and her mother Mary Ann Beller. Her father, longtime resident and businessman Albert W. Beller, preceded her in death.
