George Parkhurst Obituary
George J. Parkhurst, son of Henry and Mary Ellen (Elliott) Parkhurst, was born in Davenport, Iowa, September 4, 1865 and died March 11, 1923 at his home in Chicago.
Mr. Parkhurst spent his childhood days and youth in Marion and graduated from the Marion high school. He united with the Marion Congregational church in 1887. He was a devoted son to his mother, who died about 5 years ago. He left Marion about 25 years ago and for the past 3 years has made his home with his only surviving aunt, Miss Lizzie G. Elliott, Chicago. He leaves his twin brother, D.M. Parkhurst, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Marion Turner chapel. The Rev. George T. Hanna officiated and burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery beside the body of his mother.
