Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Auchterlonie, 70, of Raders Sidetrack Road in Greeneville, died Thursday morning at Johnson City Medical Center after heart surgery.

Born June 28, 1936, she was a lifelong resident of Greene County with the exception of several years she spent earlier in life in Madison Heights and Livonia, Mich.

She was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church of Mosheim, where she was a member and treasurer of the first and second sanctuary choirs, taught the Golden Circle Sunday School Class, was a member and treasurer of the Woman's Missionary Union, and served on the pantry, nursing center ministry, card and visitation ministry, and kitchen teams of the church.

Mrs. Auchterlonie was a member of the seniors group of the YMCA of Greeneville and was an avid swimmer. She was a member of the Greeneville Women of the Moose, Chapter NO. 1598.

She was the widow of James Wilson Auchterlonie and a daughter of the late Bestman and Bonnie Shelton Hensley.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Lynne and Peter Tidei of Chicago, Ill., Amanda and Rod Lilly of Greeneville, and Lisa and Stephen Eidson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law: Andrew and Irene Auchterlonie and Stuart and Judy Auchterlonie, all of Greeneville; her grandchildren: James Tidei, Elizabeth Tidei, Bella Tidei, and Ruthanne Tidei, all of Chicago, Alastair Lilly and Kenan Lilly, both of Greeneville, Saul Eidson and Isabelle Eidson, both of Lawrenceville, and Hana Auchterlonie, Lexi Auchterlonie, Davina Myers, and Chandra Myers, all of Greeneville; four sisters and one brother-in-law: Janice Dearstone of Chuckey, and Judy Jackson, Patsy and George Gibson, and Mary Sue Knight, all of Greeneville; a number of nieces and nephews in the Greeneville area and in Michigan; and a sister-in-law: Vivian Auchterlonie of Oxford, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Donald Lee Shelton and Billy Hensley; and three sisters: Joyce Hensley Stills, Louise Hensley Strahan, and Rosie Hensley Justice.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral
Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Brown Springs Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Richard Long will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Carpenter, Uriah Fletcher, Andy Williams, Phillip Long, Brandon Sizemore, Anthony Suttle, Jonathan Greenlee, and Mark Rothe.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the first and second sanctuary choirs, the members of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class, and the men of Brown Springs Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund or the pantry ministry, or the card and visitation ministry of the Brown Springs Baptist Church, 78 Brown Springs Lane, Mosheim, TN 37818.
