Gene Carlson Stevens, 85, passed away Tuesday, December 4 at a local hospital. He was a long-time resident of Chattanooga and a member of Red Bank Church of Christ.

Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and retired from the Tennessee National Guard. Gene was also retired from the State of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include Wanda Sue (Witt) Stevens, his wife of 58 years; a son David (Tricia) Stevens; daughters, Cyndy (Chuck) Schmidt and Belinda (David) Long; grandchildren, Leslie Anne Long, Anne Louise Long, Catherine Anne Stevens, Scott Carlson Stevens and Taylor Schmidt.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 8 PM Thursday at the North Chapel. Graveside service will be held Friday at 11:30 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN. 37416 or to Ronald McDonald House, 300 Central Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
