ASHEBORO Charlie "Uncle Ned" James, 85, of Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital.
The funeral was held Jan. 10, 2011, at Amity Hills Baptist Church, where he attended, with the Rev. Barry Wall presiding. Burial with military honors was at Randolph Memorial Park.
He was an Alexander County native, World War II Navy veteran and retired from Ryder Systems.
Survivors include son, Charles James of Florida; sisters, Nell Davis and Ethel Williams, both of Asheboro, and Shirley Yow of Seagrove; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
