RANCE DIXON PHILLIPS
8 July 1934 – 4 Dec 2012

Rance was 78 and lived in Jasper, FL; he passed away at his home. He was born in Camp Hill, AL to the late Rev Ralph Ray Phillips and Bertha Lee Fincher Phillips.

He was a long time resident of Waycross, GA where he worked as a service manager for several South Georgia car dealerships. His passion however, was getting his hands dirty working on his race cars. He was involved in late model dirt track racing for many years but his experience went way beyond dirt tracks in the racing industry. Rance was inducted into the National Late Model Association Hall of Fame and was about to receive another induction into the Hall of Fame in the NASCAR division of racing.

As a young man, Rance proudly served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ralph Guynn Phillips and a sister Billie Sue Hendricks.

Survivors include son Randy Dixon Phillips and wife Carla Elaine Wylie of Floral City, FL; daughters Teresa Lynn Middleton and Nancy Gaile Phillips both of Cleveland, GA; one sister Jo Ann Smith of Walland, TN; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his former wife, and mother of his children, Delores "Lois" Scott Phillips of Bryson City, NC.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, 8 Dec 2012 at the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, 901 4th Street NW, Jasper, FL 32052. Interment will be at Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Waycross, GA.
