Mrs. Evelena Farmer Andrus, 87, of Corsicana went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Evelena was born in Zion’s Rest, Texas, to the late Lena Stone Farmer and James Everett Farmer, and lived her whole life in Navarro County. She graduated from Emhouse High School on June 1, 1946, and June 3, 1946 began her career in banking at First National Bank, Corsicana, from which she retired in 1989.

She married H.V. (Bud) Andrus on June 14, 1948. Their first son, David, was born October 13, 1949, but only lived four months, to pass away February 14, 1950. Four years later Susan was born, soon following came Steven, then Stuart.

Bud and Evelena have been life-long Methodists, first at 11th Avenue Methodist Church, then at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Both Evelena and Bud served their church on various committees over the years, and she loved her church family very much. She remained a faithful member to St. Luke even in her absence.

She took an active interest in her children’s lives, doing anything she could to participate, such as feeding the horses, cooking lunch daily for Steve and Susan, caring for her precious grandchildren, to name a few. Of course when one a horse backed into her, knocking her against the fence and breaking her arm, she was forced to stop feeding the livestock, but she took such pride in being helpful to the kids.

She and Bud were fortunate enough to get to do some traveling with friends before he passed away in 2001. And in November of 2012, Susan convinced her to move in with her and husband, Gary, where she stayed until Jesus called her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.V. "Bud" Andrus; infant son, David Andrus; sisters, Lila Olsen and husband, H.O., and Beatrice Parrish and husband, Hugh, Jr.; brothers: Raymond Farmer, Earl Farmer, and Newel "Buddy" Farmer and wife, Sarah; and nephew, Jimmy Parrish.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Andrus Campbell and husband, Gary; sons, Steven Andrus and wife, Sherry, and Stuart Andrus and wife, Karen; grandchildren: Whitney Andrus Napoli and husband, Jason, Blair Campbell Puren and husband, Jeremiah, Sarah Campbell Barton and husband, Wesley, Ashleigh Andrus, and Michael Andrus.
