Byron Cecil May

Byron Cecil May, 76, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Friday, Dec. 1.
He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Hood River, to William Clayton and Mary Luella (Leonard) May.
He joined the Navy after high school and served in the Mediterranean during the Korean War. He married Janet Kohler (whom he later divorced) in January of 1951 in The Dalles.
A long-time resident of The Dalles, he was a pipe fitter and a past member of the Elks lodge, and active in the Moose lodge. He enjoyed going to Reno, and working on his 1963 Thunderbird.
He is survived by his sons Mike May and companion Peggy Arthur, Guy May and wife Kathy, and Patrick May, all of Portland; sisters, Dorothy Thompson and husband Don of Moro, Vivian Berger and husband Robert Jr. of The Dalles; brother, Wallace May and wife Elaine of The Dalles; aunt, Blodwen May of The Dalles; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Kelly May.
