Katherine Elizabeth "Kate" Jones, 90, of Steele, died August 11, 1992 at Okolona, Ark. Born March 25, 1902 at Okolona, she was the daughter of James Thomas and Bessie Clark Wingfield. She was a member of Cooter United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Lee Noflet Jones.

She is survived by two sons, L. N. and Jimmy Jones, both of Lettsworth, La.; three daughters, Velma Simpson of Louisville, Norma Jean Ray of Steele and Gertrude Howell of Simmesport, La.; a sister, Pauline Wingfield of Kilgore, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Homer Lee Jones; a daughter, Bobby Nell Jones; two grandsons, five brothers and three sisters.

Services were August 14 at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw German-Aumon Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Tom Zych officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael, Lafe and Mark D. Jones, Timothy A. Howell, Ed Simpson and Ronnie and Jimmy Forbus.
