Pella Advertiser – Dirk Gaass, father of our esteemed citizens, J. D. Gaass and P. G. Gaass, died at the home of his son Dirk, three miles northwest of this city, at about 5 o'clock this morning, of a stroke of paralysis, at the age of 78 years. The deceased had been in the best of health for the past few months. He leaves three sons, John D. Gaass, P. G. Gaass and D. Gaass to mourn their loss.
