Rev. E.T. Franklin dies at Fort Wayne

Rev. E.T. Franklin, 89, of 1212 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, died Saturday at Parkview Memorial Hospital in that city.

Rev. Franklin was well known throughout this area, having served from 1932 to 1945 as administrator and financial adviser in the planning and obtaining of land for Methodist Hospital, now Parkview.

He had previously served as Dean of Men at Asbury College, president of Union College in Barbourville, Ky., and president of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.

After leaving Fort Wayne, he accepted a position in New York City as manager of hospital fund raising programs.

Survivors include his wife, grace; two sons, two daughters; a sister, and four brothers, including Rev. Ben H. Franklin of Cloverdale, former pastor of the First Methodist Church in Decatur.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First -Wayne-Street United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, with Rev. Lycurgus Starkey officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie. Friends may call at the D. O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 noon Tuesday until time of the services.
