Sherry Ann Hooper, 55 Windham--Sherry Ann Hooper, 55, of Varney Mill Road, died Friday, August 29, 2008 at a Portland hospital. Born in Portland, she was a daughter of Robert E. and Marion Willey Smithson. Sherry was a 1970 graduate of Windham High School and also graduated from Plus Gray School of Business in Portland. She had been a medical assistant and also worked in the insurance industry until the birth of her first daughter, Melissa in 1981. Since then she has been a homemaker and has battled Multiple Sclerosis since 1978. During her own struggles, she was instrumental in the care of Melissa's neruoblastoma. Melissa died in 1990. Mrs. Hooper enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, crafts and caring for her home. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 32 years, Allen and their daughter, Allysha Meigui H. both of Windham; two brothers, Robert (Bob) S. of Gray and Garry S. of Raymond, one sister, Susan A. of Raymond; and several nieces. Sherry's family wishes to extend a heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to Rick and Nancy and family for their constant support and friendship throughout the difficult times. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Dolley Cemetery, Varney Mill Road, Windham. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham.
