Hall of Fame Professional Football Player. A defensive end, he was one of the most dominant defensive players in the history of the National Football League, and set a since passed record of 198 sacks for a career spent with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL, and the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers (whom he helped to a Super Bowl victory in 1997) and the Carolina Panthers. In his eight years with the Eagles, he was the anchor of what many consider the best defense of the 1990s. An ordained minister (his playing nickname was "The Minister of Defense"), he had worked tirelessly through his career to advance social causes for the poor and underprivileged. With 124 sacks with Philadelphia, he is the team's All-Time leader in that category. In 2002, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In 2006, White was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
