Emma Jane (as we used to call her at times when we were older) was a petite woman who raised five children by herself since our Father died young. When Mama spoke, we listened, paid attention and did what we were told (well, most of the time)! She raised us on an amount of money that nowadays would be considered astonishing little. We ate well, and had all the basics we needed. When she could make it happen we had more than the basics. I was the last daughter at home, and got to do things with her that my sisters either didn't get to do at all, or not often....like jumping the the car and taking little back roads that we weren't familiar with to see where they came out. And we'd sing at the top of our lungs....my Mother was my friend and I enjoyed her so much. I miss her every day, and am so glad that she is next to our son Jason, and watches over him. -Betty
